SDJACL Community Dialogue - November 10, 2022
Thursday, November 10, 2022, 6:30-8:00 pm. RSVP to sandiegojacl@gmail.com for the Zoom link.
To celebrate Veterans Day, we will highlight Taiga Takahashi, a “new” second-generation (shin-nisei) Japanese American and 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. In the fleet, he served as a Surface Warfare Officer on active duty aboard an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and as a reserve staff officer at Third Fleet headquarters in San Diego. As a civilian attorney, he has done significant pro bono work on behalf of veterans and veterans rights issues. In 2021, he was recognized with a National Veterans Legal Services Program Lawyers Serving Warriors® Excellence Award for his work on veterans disability matters; he has also received an Immigrant Justice Award from the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California in 2018 and a California Lawyer of the Year Award from The Daily Journal and the California Lawyers Association in 2017 for his work on deported veterans issues.
He is currently a board member for our very own San Diego Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League. Come enjoy an evening to connect, discuss, and learn!
